Description

Juvenile Delinquency is yet another serious problem which needs to be studied and addressed carefully. Though there was law in 1986 to render justice to Juvenile Delinquents, the subsequent changes in the society, the legal need to take of children and the misuse of legal privileges to the delinquents have made our parliament to enact the new Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act in the year 2015 in the place of earlier Acts by repealing them.

The study of juvenile delinquency reflects the four basic tasks,- (1) to define, (2) to describe, (3) to explain, and (4) to respond the delinquent behaviour. The cause and effects of the delinquent behavior can be studied and approached only by understanding who is a juvenile and what is delinquency in reality.

The author Dr.Sheetal Kanwal in this book "Juvenile Delinquency", has made a sincere attempt to put in one place all the topics in the curriculum of LL.M. according to the syllabus in such a way to help the students basically to develop an understanding of the subject. In fact it is an impossible task to compile all such vast information on these topics, yet the author has succeeded in this task by putting in her best efforts.

The book is divided into two parts as LEGAL EDUCATION and RESEARCH METHODOLOGY.

The chapters are as follows:-

1. Introductory

2. Determining factors of Juvenile Delinquency

3. Legislative Approaches

4. Indian Context of Juvenile Delinquency

5. Judicial Contribution

6. Implementation and the Rights of Children

7. Preventive Strategies.

At the end of the book, the following Acts are given as appendix

1. The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015

2. The child and adolescent labour (Protection and Regulation) Act 1986

3. The Right of children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009

4. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Very useful book to LL.M. students for their exam preparations.
