In this hardbound book, the author Mr.Arun Kumar Pathak has explained the Police Investigation with special reference to FIR to Final Report and Charge Sheet.
The power of investigation by police may start from the registration of the FIR of a cognizable offence under Section 154, Cr PC and it ends with the submission of a charge-sheet or final report as the case may be. During the process of investigation the Investigating Officer (IO) uses the various sections of Cr.P.C. regarding the attendance and examination of witnesses, search and seizure, arrest of the accused persons, recording the confessions, use of medico-legal reports, inquest and post-mortem reports, recording the statements of victims, producing the arrested persons before the concerned Court and filing the charge-sheet/final report as a final conclusion of the case after completion of investigation within time limits.
Investigation is the backbone of criminal justice system. If the investigation is poor, the case will be weak to prosecute and to deliver fair justice to the victim of crime, rather it become burden of the overburdened Court. The police are front liners of criminal justice system to meet the end of justice.
To strengthen investigative knowledge of the Investigating Officers, there is a need of a complete book to fulfil the objectives of investigative processes for police officers. Here this book is prepared for the daily needs of investigative processes in such simple and accurate language that the readers will find it a pleasure to go throught it and study the requirements in proper perspective with ease of effort.

Efforts has also been made to make the book user friendly and thus empower the I.O.'s with basic understanding of investigation, they would handle.
